Product Overview

The ABB DI801 is a classic 16-channel digital input module in the AC 800M distributed control system, specifically designed for the highly reliable acquisition of discrete signals such as switch status, alarm signals, and equipment operation/fault feedback in industrial environments. This module supports 24V DC active or passive (dry contact) input, and features channel-level photoelectric isolation, reverse polarity protection and intelligent diagnostic functions. It is suitable for various automation scenarios such as power, water treatment, mechanical manufacturing and material conveying.

Installation and Usage instructions
Hardware installation
Insert DI801 into the S800 I/O electronic rack (such as TB840A);
Connect to the CI854A (optical fiber) or CI801 (electrical) communication module via the ModuleBus cable;
For dry contact input, a 24V query power supply needs to be provided either inside or outside the module (usually pulled up from the system power supply through a resistor).
Software configuration
Create a DI801 device instance in Control Builder M;
Name each channel (such as "Pump1_Run_FB");
Optional "Filter time" can be enabled to suppress jitter (default: 1-10 ms);
Download the configuration to the AC 800M controller.
Debugging and verification
The green LED on the front panel indicates that the module is operating normally.
Each channel corresponds to a status indicator (some versions have channel leds or can be viewed through software).
The input status can be forced in Control Builder M for logical testing.
